We're Hiring: Technical Designer + Project Coordinator

We’re at a good kind of turning point! The practice is almost 2 years old, thoughtful projects are moving forward, and we need another strong designer to help carry them from the first idea to documentation and construction. This role matters because the details between concept and construction are where good design either gets stronger or lost.

What You’ll Do

• Translate client goals, brand stories, and project constraints into thoughtful concepts, space plans, finish palettes, and FF&E direction.

• Create schematics, 3D models, and presentations that clearly communicate ideas to clients and project teams.

• Research, evaluate, and specify materials, finishes, fixtures, and furnishings. Ability to balance design intent with performance, budget, availability, and constructability.

• Produce coordinated construction documents, including plans, elevations, details, and schedule.

• Research jurisdictional requirements and prepare permit applications and submission packages.

• Protect design quality through construction by reviewing markups, managing RFIs and submittals, joining site visits, and resolving conflicts early.

• Own assigned project scopes, identify gaps, ask useful questions, and keep deliverables moving independently.

• Coordinate with the project team, consultants, vendors, fabricators, and contractors to solve problems early and carry the design through construction.

  
  

The Ideal Candidate Offers

• Proficiency in Revit & Autodesk Forma, with hands-on experience producing coordinated construction document sets.

• A portfolio that shows both design thinking and technical execution. Commercial, hospitality, wellness, workplace, retail, or related project experience is especially relevant.

• Sound judgment in space planning, materials, FF&E, detailing, and balancing design ambition with budget, code, schedule, and constructability.

• Strong visual communication skills using Canva or Photoshop. Rendering or visualization experience using Enscape or any diffusion AI tools are a plus.

• Clear, proactive remote-work habits: organized files, reliable follow-through, thoughtful communication, and the ability to manage overlapping priorities.

• Ability to manage across by anticipating stakeholder needs. Collaboration is core to how we work. Building cool things with cool people is our mission.

• AI literacy beyond occasional prompting. You are comfortable with AI-supported workflows, managing agents and MCP connectors, coordinating between LLMs and visual diffusion models, and knowing when AI output requires human discernment. You do not need to be a software engineer, but should be curious, responsible, and systems-minded.

This is an intermediate & above level role. Many strong candidates will have roughly 4–8 years of relevant experience, but we care more about the quality of your work, technical confidence, and judgment than a perfect number of years or a specific credential.

• A contract rate of $40–$55 per hour, based on experience, technical depth, and project scope.

• Fully remote work with project-based flexibility.

• A modern toolkit that includes Revit and Autodesk Forma, AutoCAD (as required), Bluebeam, Programa, Notion, Microsoft 365, and creative AI tools.

• Direct collaboration with the Principal Designer and meaningful ownership of the work. Not a production-only seat.

• Exposure to projects from early concept through documentation and execution.

This is an independent-contractor engagement. Workload and weekly hours may vary based on current project needs, and employee benefits are not included at the moment.
